The customary system measures length,capacity,weight,and tempature. Units for length are inches,feet,yards and miles. units for capacity cups, pints,quarts,and gallons. Units for weight is ounces, pounds, and tons. Units for tempature are degrees fahrenheit.

The metric system is ment to simplify measurment. Length,measure,and capacity all have one basic measure. Sometimes you need to convert a unit of measurment to a similar unit.
